Good days
Every once in a while, someone crosses your path and your faith in humanity gets restored. That was this morning. I have been posting a few things for sale on Facebook's Marketplace. Several items have sold, one just today. And the person who came to pick up the item turned out to be a very nice guy. I had been corresponding online with the person who I assume must have been his wife because the account was listed with a female name. She's a lucky woman to have such a nice husband.
But here's the "funny" part of today's meeting. Funny as in ironic, odd, bazaar, and proof that God has a sense of humor.
Anyone who knows me very well knows that I have a terrible celebrity crush on a Scottish actor by the name of Sam Heughan. And if you read my eBook, you'll know that as well. Anyway...yesterday, during a moment of weakness, I posted a silly response online to someone's query about Mr. Heughan which read something like: "Could I get a 70-year-old version of Sam under my Christmas tree this year?"
I need to be more specific in what I pray for.
I didn't have my hearing aids in this morning when my Marketplace customer came, but I could swear he said his name was "Sam". We chatted for several minutes, as people of my generation do, and he said he turned 69 this year. He told me about, among other things, a cruise he and his wife had taken.
Close. So close to having "Sam" at my door! But not this one. Not this time.
Anyway, it's so refreshing to meet new people who can chat well, sharing a few moments of their lives with you, then go back to what they were doing, leaving you with a nice memory of a person you wouldn't have otherwise met.
Cheers!
